About the Event

MODULES

Introduction to Yin Yoga & Poses (25hrs) Yin Yoga is essentially a practice of surrender. Unlike other forms of yoga which require strength and stability, Yin Yoga requires stillness and softness. The result is a more mobile and fluid physical body and a more resilient and steady mind. To teach Yin Yoga is an art that requires skills that are much different than teaching more active forms of yoga. In this module you will learn the philosophical and physiological bases for the practice, the postures of Yin Yoga, target areas, variations, sequencing, and how to teach.

DATES:

  • Week One: May 13th, 14th & 15th
  • Week Two: May 27th, 28th & 29th

Functional Yoga Anatomy (25hrs) Functional anatomy is the study of anatomy in its relation to function. In other words, what are we trying to do in our yoga poses? We know, just by looking around at our fellow humans, that we are all unique externally, but this is also true, internally. Each one of us has a completely unique structure in terms of size, shape, proportion, and placement of our bones and joints. Because of this, every individual will have a completely different expression of their practice of yoga. Learning to see these differences and how to instruct your students into the intended function of the pose being performed is the most important quality of the Yin Yoga teacher. In this workshop we will take a deep dive into individual anatomy, bone and joint structure, and postures.

DATES:

  • Week One: June 10th, 11th & 12th
  • Week Two: June 24th, 25th & 26th

Energetic Anatomy: Chinese Meridians & Five Elements (25hrs) The ancient Yogis of both India and China mapped out the subtle pathways of the movement of energy through the body. Although the systems are separate, they are very complimentary, and once understood, offer profound healing for the body and mind. In this module you will become familiar with the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its practical application to teaching and practicing yoga. Content will include: Meridians, Five Element Theory, Vital Substances, Taoism, Breath Work, Meditation, and Sequencing.

DATES:

  • Week One: July 8th, 9th & 10th
  • Week Two: July 22nd, 23rd & 24th

Energetic Anatomy: Chakras (25hrs) The ancient Yogis of both India and China mapped out the subtle pathways of the movement of energy through the body. Although the systems are separate, they are very complimentary, and once understood, offer profound healing for the body and mind. In this module we will focus on the Chakra system. Each chakra knits together various mental, physical, and emotional aspects of oneself. When you understand the tone of each chakra and what they relate to, you will be able to offer your students very clear pathways to healing. Aligning knowledge of the chakra system with intelligent Yin Yoga sequencing is a powerful way to serve your students. Content will include: Three Body Theory, Chakra Theory, Chakra Meditation, Pranayama, and Sutra Study.

DATES:

  • Week One: August 12th, 13th & 14th
  • Week Two: August 26th, 27th & 28th
